From our parties in the past you could be forgiven for thinking Defected was all about the DJ line-up. For our last event this was only partly true, next to our formidable selection of DJ’s was a whole host of incredible live acts and personal appearances. The show was hosted by the legendary Barbara Tucker who thoroughly entertained throughout including a standout performance of her 1985 classic ‘Beautiful People’ and the soon to be re-released ‘Most Precious Love’.
Other incredible highlights were an acepella version of Ron Hall & The MuthaFunkaz – The way you love me, sung by new Baltimore vocalist Marc Evans. Reel People played a funk and latin fuelled set with no less than 8 musicians and singers. Also Elmer ‘Lee’ Fields performing Jealousy and I’m a Good Man and rounded off with an impromptu tribute to Ray Charles - I got a Woman – this performance can only go down as legendary.
