PauletteLet's get one thing straight. Paulette Loves Music! She lives it and if she could eat it she would never go hungry! Her diet is by no means one of the likes of those anal music bores who can only digest one type of house music from one particular artist or label: no, Paulette is happily bi-set and bi-sensual: she demonstrates an uncanny ability to understand exactly what it takes to entertain people no matter whether she's rocking you with harder, jacking house or soothing with you with lashings of the sweeter, soulful stuff. For the last 13 years of professional DJ'ing (she's one of the original female Djs alongside Smokin Jo, Lisa Loud, Rachel Auburn and Princess Julia), Paulette has built her career on being an avid music lover and liver first, honed her skills by being an entertainer behind and in front of the decks second and is a connoisseur of really great music overall. If it doesn't heal your heart, kick your ass or soothe your soul then she's just not interested. HARD AND SOUL? It's all about her music - nothing more, nothing less. Consequently, Paulette has embraced this unique ability to play it both ways and as such has been honoured to play with a diverse range of DJs. When playing alongside the likes of Norman Jay and Gilles Peterson, she rocks your block with anything from jazz through to block rocking hip-hop, house and broken beats. Alongside Stuart Patterson she plays a house set so deep and eclectic (ill-clectic) that you'll think your feet will never hit the bottom. Booked alongside CJ Macintosh, or Joey Negro and she spins high octane, top quality vocal house all the way. Alongside X-press 2, Soul Mekanik or Chicken Lips, you'll find yourself swinging from her chunkiest electro-powered beats and bass lines like a demented baboon. Then when she headlines alongside Tom Stephan, Mark Anthony or Tedd Patterson in front of 16,500 people at the Black and Blue Festival Main Event (Montreal Olympic Stadium two years running and going back for a third) she blazes a trail with her boxful of bangers, tearing the roof off, dancing her ass off and even getting thrown off her own stage for good measure! From Carey's in Coventry to Stereo in Montreal , from intimate sweatboxes to serious stadium shenanigans, Paulette fearlessly takes her unique sets to the hearts and minds of a growing legion of fans. Remember that none of the above situations are hypothetical - she has played alongside them all and has rocked her room in every way possible. And that's just when she DJ's! For the last four years, Paulette has concentrated on her broadcasting career - starting her debut solo show with Ministry of Sound radio in October 2000. From humble beginnings Paulette has now become a master of her craft: creating, producing, mixing and presenting 'Hard And Soul', her weekly live show every Monday from 6 - 8pm (GMT).

The mission is simple - to shine a weekly spotlight on the very best of hard and soulful music choosing from a top flight international roster of producers, dj's, labels, album releases. 'Hard and Soul' has already welcomed the likes of Sacha, Deep Dish, Norman Jay MBE, Paul Harris (Dirty Vegas), X-press 2, Joey Negro, Phil Asher, 16b (Omid Nourizadeh), Tiefschwarz, DJ Hell, Amp Fiddler, Cosmo and Nikki Lucas (Bitches Brew), Funk D'Void, Martin Solveig, Matthias Heilbronn, Soul Mekanik, The Glimmer Twins, Sao Benitez, Boris Dlugosch, Mousse T, Axwell, Lucien Foort, Ben Watt (Buzzin Fly, EBTG), Jaydee, Mark Moore and is looking forward to hosting the likes of Steve Lawler, Peace Division, Rob Mello (Classic), DJ Flex and many, many more. And don't forget that Paulette has also had a long and successful career in the media both in the spotlight and behind the scenes, having presented TV programmes for MTV, Channel 4, Granada, Sky One and Carlton; has been a successful PR - famous for taking care of business at Talkin Loud (Roni Size - New Forms got her short-listed for a Music Week PR Award), Manifesto, Defected and Azuli Records and gaining 2 gold discs in the process! And she became an active member of the Bristish Academy of Composers and Songwriters, judging on the Dance Award Panel for 2002 and 2003.

She popped her production cherry in November 2003 with the independently released and critically acclaimed 'Laugh' (AutoW) which garnered a slew of fabulous reviews and sold out on its first run. More production is on the cards so watch this space for more news. There have been many firsts and highlights in Paulette's career so far - her residency at the Hacienda and a six date, three city tour of India (2001), then headlining the Black and Blue Festival Main Event two years running shine like beacons in a glittering past. As for the future, Paulette is currently working on moving to Paris and taking her sound (and radio show) over there. She is also concentrating on teaching; having already run two children's workshops and appearing as a regular teacher at the Ministry of Sound’s ‘Red Letter Days’. Hard and Soul?
