June 17 will see tens of thousands of people descend onto the seaside town of Portrush, NI, to see Fatboy Slim host an all-day party. Having performed to mammoth crowds in Rio de Janiero and Salvador, Mr Slim has decided to grace the shores of sunny Northern Ireland. What’s more, he’s coming seriously prepared. Aside from his presumably vast record collection, the superstar DJ will be taking a 40ft x 40ft video wall, used previously at Mount Fuji and at Flamego Beach, Rio.
The Portrush authorities inform us that despite the excitement that this will cause, they will be fully in control of what will invariably be a gargantuan crowd. Norman Cook has a penchant for playing to seas of people, and since 2003’s Brighton beach party was cancelled due to the problems associated with controlling 250,000 people, this year’s event has been meticulously planned. Hotels, restuarants and nightclubs are all gearing up for what should be an awesome event, hosted by one of the world’s top international DJs. |
