Following on from the first release in the Back In The Box series (selected and mixed by Joey Negro), NRK invite ‘Little’ Louie Vega to do some serious crate diggin in the second installment, taking us on a good old romp down house music’s memory lane. Vega revives his “Little” Louie Vega tag especially for Back In The Box, and lays down an amazing 2 hour mix of favourite classics and forgotten gems over two CDs. A veritable who’s who of house music’s glorious past, this double mix retrospective of a golden era includes tracks & remixes from Todd Terry, Blaze, Black Science Orchestra, Eric Kupper, Romanthony, Crystal Waters, Sounds Of Blackness, Ralphie Rosario, Michael Watford....even Norman Cook makes a surprise entry under his Mighty Dub Katz guise!..
With no stone unturned, house anthems and underground classics rub shoulders with those tracks that rocked Vega’s sets back in the day. Honing his skills on the New York club circuit in the mid-80s, legendary house music pioneer, ‘Little’ Louie Vega collaborated with Kenny “Dope” Gonzales for the Masters At Work project that has since gone on to spawn countless dance music “moments” (“I Can’t Get No Sleep”, “Work”, “To Be In Love”), and helped create and shape the house music sound as we know it. And proving that dance music is truly an all encompassing genre, Vega’s Nu Yorican Soul project enlisted the likes of George Benson, Jocelyn Brown, Roy Ayres, Tito Puente and Jazzy Jeff for a string of anthems like “I Am The Black Gold Of The Sun”, “It’s Alright, I Feel It” and “Runaway”. Quite simply, Vega has earned his stripes, and continues to win Grammy Awards, produce massive club hits, multi-instrumentation album projects, and continues to DJ the world over.
