NRK's Coast2Coast series surges on with its no-nonsense approach to the mix compilation, bringing you the very best in underground house DJs and mixes that fly the flag for real house music! Following in the footsteps of Âme, Ron Trent, Quentin Harris and Kerri Chandler, Baltimore’s finest, Karizma , gives us a lesson in the art of mixing it up! Karizma shows us just why he’s very much in favour at the moment, bridging the gap between the soulful/broken beat vibes and the edgier, techier sounds by dragging in the more European influences that are dominating the dancefloors of London, Berlin and beyond. Lighter vocal nuggets from artists such as Onsulade (under his Yoruba Soul moniker) and Slope’s remix of 1Luv rub shoulders with the deeper house sounds of Pasta Boys, Dennis Ferrer, Manuel Tur and Wahoo.
Some refreshing Japanese productions from Shuya Okino give the mix a real international flare, whilst Karizma himself weighs in with homegrown productions such as the hypnotizing “In The D.ee.p.” and “Tha D”.
Karizma's musical career started at the early age of 13, DJing at various fashion shows and college parties, and progressing into radio on Baltimore's college radio station WEAA. At the same time he was playing at various clubs around the city, with an obvious love for house music. He would often bump into fellow Baltimore resident DJ Spen, and bug him for advice. As fate would have it Spen and Karizma would work together at radio station V103. This prompted the two to work together on his 1st Jasper Street Company album project. Karizma contributed the song E.B.W.2.R.T.W (Everybody Wants 2 Rule The World) and did drum programming on the track "Temptation". A bourgeoning relationship, Spen & Karizma then collaborated on Kim English's "Tommorrow", Mary J Blige's "Beautiful" , Kenny Bobien's "Let Me Show You" and SuSu Bobien's "Thank You" . The rest is history.
