Kurd MaverickRespected independent label Cr2 , set up in 2004 by former Credence head honcho & one half of MYNC Project Mark Brown, has done that rare thing in dance music and established itself in both the underground and the credible end of mainstream. With numerous top 40 singles including The Egg’s ‘Walking Away’ and the biggest dance track of 2006 Fedde Le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ there is no denying that Cr2 are a formidable force in the music industry with a firm foot on the dance-floor. This release marks their first foray into the compilation market and launches their Live and Direct sub brand that will be supported by a series of events across the UK. For this first outing they have brought together two pioneering troubadours of the current house scene Dirty South and Kurd Maverick and produced a forward thinking album for their army of ardent supporters.

Dirty South’s crafted first side jolts us straight into the shoulder shaking, disarming electro with Alter Ego’s superb re-rub of ‘Trauermusik’ from Ewan Pearson’s Partial Arts outfit, and, without taking a breath keeps the electro driving into Dirty South’s collaboration with Paul Harris on ‘Better Day’ feat. Purdy. It continues bang on trend with some early hour offerings as Darren Mase’s ‘Take that Record Off’ keeps you firmly on the dance floor and Tony Gomez’s ‘Burn’ positively bounces out of the stereo. Freakz Brothers step forward with their infectious stomper ‘Tension’ and Green Velvet appear in good form with their stilted electro beast ‘Shake & Pop’. MYNC make a welcomed appearance with Dirty South for a relentless slice of mayhem hot off the press ‘Everybody Freakin’ whilst the ubiquitous Swedish house contingent (Axwell, Angello, Ingrosso) join forces and ‘Get Dumb’ for yet another album highlight.

Kurd Maverick drops you straight into CD2 with the brilliant ‘The Bump’ from Hook n Sling & Kid Kenobi, perfectly setting the pace for this superlative house outing. Jaymen twist up a classic with their bouncing summer take on ‘Ooh La Lishious’ which bounds straight into an album exclusive and Kurd’s very own ‘Strings of Tortuga’, taking no prisoners with its infectious bass line. Tim Deluxe employs the vocal talent of Audio Bully Simon Franks for the resounding ‘Let The Beats Roll’ with Mr Maverick stepping in for remix duties. Nicole Otero keeps it soaring with the ‘Sunshine Song’ and Kurd contributes his second instalment taking things deeper with ‘The Rub’. The Swedes are back at 10 as Angello and Ingrosso spice things up with a latino influenced instrumental ‘Umbrella’. Maverick returns with his driving ‘Let’s Work’ onslaught before Steve Mac v Mosquito Feat. Steve Smith round things off with the super sassy floor filler ‘Lovin’ You More’, naturally with a Kurd Maverick kick!

The magnetism and craft of this compilation brings the new wave of floor fillers and producers to the forecourt. Their production, selection and blend has propelled this to being one of the must have compilations for any house jotter for the upcoming summer season.

2007 will see the Live & Direct team jetting around the globe to satisfy their hoard of hungry house fans with residencies stretching from the Emerald of N. Ireland (Thompson’s Garage) to the bountiful Singapore (Clinic) and to the quintessential English home of house; the Ministry of Sound. With launch parties across the UK they’ll be more than one chance to experience the sound…Live and Direct.
