NRK has had yet another prolific 12 months in the house scene, and Part One of the Unreleased Projects series yields some great remixes and alternate versions that never made it out first time round. Part One leans towards the soulful house axis of NRK’s output, and leading names such as Kerri Chandler, Miguel Migs and Trackheadz head up this tasty double pack. Featuring Kerri Chandler (pictured) himself on vocals, “The Promise” is everything you want out of a modern day house song; delicate pianos, warm pads, Chandler’s trademark swinging and crunchy beats, and a great melody as Kerri works his way around the keyboard. This “Stripped Down Vocal Mix” marries tender lyrics and a soulful yet melancholic delivery to produce a song a cut above the usual garage fare.
Trackheadz “Feel” has been one of those house tracks that has crossed over to the Urban House crowds as well as the traditional deep house heads. NYC’s Mr V (Defected) was first up to remix this, and this no-nonsense Instrumental Remix features gorgeous Rhodes keys, shuffling beats and a melodious analogue bassline. Also featured on this double pack; the original house sound of Chicago courtesy of Ron Carroll’s stomping piano remix of “Pump Dance”, Kaje’s 2006 Remix of Trackheadz deep house anthem “Our Music” and a previously unreleased Alix Alvarez (SOLE Channel) mix of Miguel Mig’s polished “Mesmerized”. NRK Music present...Unreleased Projects II (Minimal Tech) Part Two on the NRK Unreleased Projects series leans towards the minimal tech axis of NRK’s output, and leading names such as Peace Division, Paolo Mojo, Audio Soul Project, Magik J and Kerri Chandler head up this tasty double pack. Peace Division (Clive Henry, pictured) lay down a Dub Remix par excellence of Audio Soul Project’s “Community”. A fantastic shuffling production, minimal yes, but intricate and effective sounds and stabs backdropping the chopped up vocal delivery of Ron Carroll; an early morning head-nodder of a remix. Fans of Derrick Carter, Inland Knights and Mark Farina et al will dig the house swing of Magik Johnson’s remix of Peace Division’s “Club Therapy”. Dan Diamond’s twisted vocal is driven along with techy beats and spongy chords, and plenty of bounce. Also featured on this double pack; the string heavy, pumping tech of Paolo Mojo’s remix of Quentin Harris’ Let’s Be Young (a very popular digital only remix from last year), the tribal drum-fest of Headhonchos remix of Dub Duo (Claudio Coccoluto) and Peace Division’s stripped down Beats Mix of Kerri Chandler’s “Bar A Thym”. Deep Sensation - mixed by NRK's Nick Harris NRK Music shows off the breadth of our catalogue with this double CD of Summertime grooves, funkified 4/4, smooth vocals and sun-kissed deep house. Mixed by NRK’s Nick Harris, CD01 blends a soundtrack to the summer that oozes class from every pore. A 78 minute mix that encompasses the disco funk grooves of Blackjoy, the sultry vocal cuts of Nick Holder, Miguel Migs and Kerri Chandler, and the deep ‘n’ tracky house sounds of Tom Middleton, Trackheadz and Ian Pooley, “Deep Sensation” if the aficionados’ guide to the very latest in quality deep house music.
