Rob Pearson was lured into music from an early age, growing up in South London with a staple diet of electro, hip hop, and eighties soul. Inspired by the turntable wizards of the time Rob spent many hours perfecting and learning his art initially as a scratch DJ, cutting up early hip hop beats of the time, this sparked off his love of record collecting and all things vinyl. Making use of whatever equipment was available, Robs early mix tapes where made using pause button tape edits of his favourite music snippets an later on an old music centre and a midi HI- FI system to first mix together 2 records. Robs earliest music productions were made using an old Tascam 4 track recorder, a budget drum machine program on the classic Commodore 64 computer, overlaying whatever records Rob could get his hand on to create new unique versions of tracks. Rob\rquote s style had led him through early Chicago house and Detroit Techno and Acid House mixing these tunes alongside early Breakbeat and Hardcore. Rob ventured into pirate radio where he started to play regular slots on Energy 87.9 FM, Don FM and Dream FM honing his style into Drum & Bass and then starting to spin in clubs like Labyrinth and Turnmills and playing a warm up set for The Happy Mondays at Concorde in Brighton. Robs humble home studio was now growing and sporting some proper gear, Akai sampler, various Keyboards and Drum machines and the good old Atari ST computer. Gaining respect fro his piers a getting his material played by LTJ Bukem, Grooverider and Fabio helped Rob to clinch his first Record deal with Basement Records. Rob was working alongside label mates Wax Doctor, Peshay, Roger Johnson, MJ Cole, and Top Buzz and producing under the name of Blinded by Science. Alongside the releases with Basement Rob also released on a plethora of other labels at the time including his own Online Recordings Imprint. By 1995 Robs ever growing music equipment collection and the need to create a proper workspace for his projects led on to him starting his own recording studio, Online Studios in Croydon, South London. As an engineer, Producer and Remixer Rob has worked with a diverse range of music artists including Tippa Irie, Cedric Myton & The Congos, Marc Almond, So Solid, UK Apache, Sway and in 1999 co wrote and produced a top 40 number 1 single selling over 250,000 records. This was also the year that Rob launched his Evasive Records label to release the underground house and Tech House tracks that he was writing, finding that this style of music gave him the most creative freedom to express himself and being able to draw on his many other musical influences. Releases and remixes followed for some of House music\rquote s most prestigious labels including Swag, Defender, Wrong, Dorigen and Uhuru Beats as well as producing over 20 releases for Evasive. Rob has twice been a guest on London\rquote s prolific Kiss 100FM radio station for an Evasive label showcase and a guest mix set in 2004. At the end of 2004 Rob launched a 2nd label, Drugsex Recordings, which has been showcasing new artists and the deeper dirtier sound of house. Now with the labels and Online Studios established Rob is continuing to produce new material and is spinning alongside the scenes best, including Colin Dale, Nathan Coles, Asad Rizvi, and Inland Knights. As well as playing well respected events Kerfuffle, Abstrakt Dance and Reverberations Rob has been travelling to Czech Republic and Croatia whilst holding down a residency at Ocean Rooms (Brighton UK). Rob has collaborated with the legendary vocalist Robert Owens on a new single and has plans to work with other vocalists and musicians for new imprint Audio Tactics. After a decade of studio production work Rob is now working on his debut album project and pushing forward his sound with DJ gigs worldwide.
