In 1992 two notorious Amsterdam DJs, Zki and Dobre, founded a label called Fresh Fruit. The label was designed to release records by the duo under a number of assumed names and it was so successful that local clubbers would have fainted at the thought that its prolific artist roster - The Good Men, René Et Gaston, Klatsch!, Jark Prongo, Basco and more - was really the work of only two men. In 1995 Zki and Dobre decided to quit with the Fresh Fruit Label and start a new label called Pssst Music, where they played both producer and label boss, releasing both their own records and the offerings of the hottest new producers in Holland. They took the cream of all genres of dance music, but their heart, from the beginning, was always in big, stomping house records. Chocolate Puma is the latest venture of these chameleon characters. Their first release in 2001 was “I Wanna Be U” with vocal inspiration provided by male vocalist Evo. " I Wanne Be U" was an international crossover hit all over Europe, especially in the UK where Chocky entered the charts at a #6 position. After the massive success of "I Wanna Be U' remix requests where coming in from all international fame such as Armand van Helden, Boris Dlugosch feat. Roisin Murphy, Stereo MC's, Roger Sanchez, Bastian and Britney Spears. The second release in 2003 is “A Star Is Born”. This time David Gonçalvez sang the vocals on this awesome tune. Pete Tong got his hands on a copy of 'A Star Is Born' and played it a couple of times at the Essential Selection on BBC Radio 1. ' He even chose it to be Essential New Tune! In the meantime The Scumfrog delivered a stunning edit of the original dub mix. While the third release "4 Letter Word" with the catchy as hell vocals from the infamous Tina Harris has been prowling the international floors for months. It was immediately picked up by U.S. Effin Records (The Scumfrog's very own label) who was responsible for the highly acclaimed Cedric Gervais Remix. With this new wave electro clash production Chocolate Puma once again proves to be a step ahead of the game. In the summer of 2005 their latest funky as ph#ck track 'Always and Forever' which again features the soulful vocals of David Gonçalvez saw the light and was immediately picked up by the worlds leading DJ's.
