COAST2COAST surges forward with an inspiring house collection from one of the godfather’s of house, Mr. Kerri Chandler . A sophisticated blend of vocals and house trax featuring Dennis Ferrer, DJ Fudge, Phortune, Trackheadz, Jon Cutler & Matthias Heilbronn, a couple of cuts from Kerri himself and many more. Includes bonus CD of unmixed tracks. Kerri Chandler’s career kick-started in 1990, courtesy of the UK label, Champion Records.
Chandler’s trademark deep beats have been doing the business on labels such as Ibadan, Strictly Rhythm, Shelter, Large, Wave, Defected as well as his own Madhouse label, over the years. Chandler has undergone a revival of late, with floor filling club cuts such as “Bar A Thym”, “So Let The Wind Comes” and “Oblivion” sending his profile right back to the top again.
Providing NRK with the second mix in the new COAST2COAST series, Chandler does what he does best, laying down a sophisticated and seamless mix of late nite garage vocals, deep underground instrumentals and searing piano led grooves. Opening his mix with the his brand new release, “In The Morning” (with Monique Bingham on vocals), Kerri prepares us for 80 minutes of house heaven. Jon Cutler & Matty Heilbronn’s “640” is an otherworldy deep house excursion, Dennis Ferrer’s latest “Underground Is My Home” is a spoken word call-to-arms. Basement Boy’s Spen & Karizma deliver a wonderfully jackin’ take on DJ Fudge’s “Mechouga” whilst the soulful garage of Nu Life feat. Kenny Bobien traces Kerri’s New Jersey roots. Other choice cuts come from Ron Hall & The Muthfunkers, Nick Holder’s Trackheadz project and the early DJ Pierre production “String Free” by Phortune. Kerri’s mix is a careful balance of the vocals and the trax, the old and the brand new. |
