NRK launch their brand new COAST2COAST series with a killer DJ mix from rising house star, Quentin Harris. NYC DJ and producer, Quentin Harris , kick starts the new series with a brilliant DJ mix that mixes up his own synonymous production sounds, early influences and genre-busting future music. Quentin proves why he is on top of the house pile right now as his own productions weave in and out of the mix, giving a real personal feeling to the set. The ‘Shelter vibe’ is evident on his productions for Byron Stingly, La Vonz, Colton Ford, and the exceptional “Haunted” track with it’s jazzy overtones and more than a nod to Lil’ Louis.
Starting his mix off with the current “Oblivion” from fellow NYC legend Kerri Chandler, Quentin ensures the party vibe early on by dropping The Jacksons & Mick Jagger over a funky loop from Franck Roger’s “Bone Of My Bone”. The classic Pal Joey production “Ping Pong” sounds just as fresh today as it did on it’s 1991 release, whilst the proto-techno of A Number Of Names 1982 production “Sharivari” takes the mix down an edgier route, back-dropped with DJ Gregory’s beat frenzy “Traffic”. The Arthur Baker produced “Play At Your Own Risk” is a timeless piece of old school electro that fits in just perfectly to this eclectic and lively mix, ending on the classic 20:20 Vision remix of Blaze. |
