Carl CraigTrue master of Detroit techno, Carl Craig steps up again and shows us his old skool techno side, which made him so popular in the first place.. Though this album has been released before as Landcruising some 10 years ago, it has been completely remastered and reworked. Forteba - Space Between Us
Saturday, 28 April 2007
Forteba on Plastic CityForteba was born and raised in Hungary where he chooses the occupation of an electronic music producer at the age of eighteen. His early compositions were settled near breakbeat and chill-out area but he soon found his passion in straight rhythms and arrangements inspired by German deep-house stuff. He likes to embed various elements of dub and ambient into straight clear rhythms, so his borders of style are hard to define. He produced some successful singles in his home country as "The Garage" together with Gábor Pasztoriális and got released at Hungary-based underground labels. Within this important period he built up his own studio and consequently founded a lounge-band with a friendly musician.

Friday, 20 April 2007
Breakspoll 2007The Rogue Element won Best Producer category at the recent Annual Breakspoll Awards at Fabric. Last year's winners were the Plump DJs so its a big up for our man. Not only that but he also won ( with co worker Tom Real ) Best Remix Award for their version of Noisia's Gutterpump. His Rogueness is chuffed to pieces by the accolade, whilst the workers round at exceptional HQ were last seen quaffing celebratory cups of tea and breaking out the jammy dodgers ! New Rogue tracks are rumoured to be heading our way soon, but in the meantime he's been busy with label mate Culprit 1. You will find his take of Culprit's Tricks track online exclusively at Beatport from next Monday (12th March) and on vinyl towards the end of March.

BT - Emotional Technology - Special Collector's Edition (Black Hole Recordings)
Wednesday, 18 April 2007
BTEmotional Technology is no great departure from the cinematic landscape of Brian Transeau's excellent last album, the diverse Movement in Still Life. Keeping with that album's attention to detail and seamless flow from track to track, Emotional Technology differs by being more ambitious, personal, and in the end a bit less satisfying. "The Great Escape" goes on a bit too long, that vocal-stutter effect shows up way too often, and some of the segues and bridges only serve to get to the next song or hook. All these things wouldn't even be noteworthy if Movement in Still Life didn't set such a high standard. The rest of the hectic, polished, and widescreen album works just fine.

Play! 01 mixed by Oliver Huntemann
Monday, 16 April 2007
Oliver HuntemannOliver Huntemann’s creative activity, despite the huge effort he’s made in the world scene of techno and minimal, successfully passed me by until now. This German artist has travelled half of the world over the last 15 years, visiting also distant Australia and eccentric Brazil. And it is Sao Paolo where his newest compilation comes from. The ‘Play!’ album is the first instalment of a new series from Huntemann’s label, Cofused Recordings, and honestly, it would be difficult to imagine a better start. The record was recorded 100% live (seriously!) - you can even hear excited Brazilian people screaming and clapping their hands. Music-wise - beyond reproach; it’s a perfectly worked out reflection of one of the parties you shouldn’t have missed.
