 Since 2005 Stealth Records’ acclaimed Afterdark compilation series has captured the imagination of club lovers worldwide. Created by and for those with a taste for the darker side of house, it’s all about dancefloor chemistry, as perfected by chief architect Roger Sanchez (founder of Stealth Records). Two world-class DJs, two upfront mix CDs, and one visceral voyage of discovery. With a late night theme that’s lean, mean and aurally unclean, Afterdark is all this and much more! The project kicked off in 2005, with Afterdark Volume 1. This dual CD package introduced a clash of New York’s home-grown electro-tribal titans as Roger Sanchez mixed up a storm with Superchumbo star Tom Stephan. The scene was set; it was dark and fizzed with exclusive re-edits, fluid, cutting-edge sounds and intermittent heavy hits. |

 Respected independent label Cr2 , set up in 2004 by former Credence head honcho & one half of MYNC Project Mark Brown, has done that rare thing in dance music and established itself in both the underground and the credible end of mainstream. With numerous top 40 singles including The Egg’s ‘Walking Away’ and the biggest dance track of 2006 Fedde Le Grand’s ‘Put Your Hands Up For Detroit’ there is no denying that Cr2 are a formidable force in the music industry with a firm foot on the dance-floor. This release marks their first foray into the compilation market and launches their Live and Direct sub brand that will be supported by a series of events across the UK.  Next one in line of producing an artist album is the Canadian DJ Preach . Preach has been travelling the World the past few years, visiting almost every major club or event, giving him the inspiration for ‘Transatlantic’. ‘Transatlantic’ is a commentary on Preach’s personal life, and the translation of his dreams and travels around the oceans into music, while discovering new places and admiring unexplored cultures. This 1.5 year project, sees him working with live musicians and vocalists, among them Saskia Lie-Atjam, famed for her work with Ferry Corsten, had caught the eyes of the infamous DJ and artist Tïësto and his sub-label F.B.I. which witnessed the release of two acclaimed EPs “Broken Inside” and “Transatlantic”; paving the way for this album debut.

 After more than a year of anticipation, the fans can finally look forward to a brand new Tiësto compilation: In Search of Sunrise 6. The double mix CD is due for release early September. In Search of Sunrise 6, titled ‘Ibiza’, is the latest in the highly successful series based on the places and spaces that have been a source of stimulus for Tiësto during his tours around the globe. For his inspiration to mix this sixth release, Tiësto returned to the island of Ibiza after two years of absence.  ‘New Day’ is the eagerly awaited second taste of The Shapeshifters ’ forthcoming new album, set for release in early 2008. The finishing touches are currently being put on the long-player, as Britain’s most promising live dance band prepare for their headline live performances at the Metro Weekender (SW4) and Global Gathering in Turkey. Amongst their numerous DJ set highlights, which included rocking Turnmills to its very core with their recent Nocturnal event, and Pacha, Ibiza with The Shapeshifters Soundsystem, the boys had their own outdoor stage at Global Gathering, welcoming Nocturnal Groove’s roster including Martijn Ten Velden and Radio 1’s Trophy Twins, to the UK’s biggest dance music festival and entertaining a large and loyal following despite the pouring rain! The next day saw them leave the muddy festival for Jodie Kidd’s Cartier party at the Guard’s Polo Tournament, where they tore the roof off with a barnstorming live set. |

 Digweed returns with the eagerly anticipated third volume in his acclaimed Transitions series... “Musically speaking, I’ve been shifting through the gears over the series,” he says “and we’re now approaching top speed. This mix still represents an immediate snapshot of my favourite tunes and producers, but it’s also about that specific energy you get at 3 or 4am at the best clubs or festivals around the world.” To capture and realise this John worked a whopping 20 tracks into the album. “Running the tracklist up so high was a conscious decision,” he elaborates, “it allowed me to generate that energy and atmosphere, which I further reinforced by creating exclusive edits.” |

 NRK has had yet another prolific 12 months in the house scene, and Part One of the Unreleased Projects series yields some great remixes and alternate versions that never made it out first time round. Part One leans towards the soulful house axis of NRK’s output, and leading names such as Kerri Chandler, Miguel Migs and Trackheadz head up this tasty double pack. Featuring Kerri Chandler (pictured) himself on vocals, “The Promise” is everything you want out of a modern day house song; delicate pianos, warm pads, Chandler’s trademark swinging and crunchy beats, and a great melody as Kerri works his way around the keyboard. This “Stripped Down Vocal Mix” marries tender lyrics and a soulful yet melancholic delivery to produce a song a cut above the usual garage fare. |
